Q?

Is Dr. Stauffer a specialist in cosmetic dentistry?

A.

Actually, there is no true “specialist” designation with cosmetic dentistry. There are a number of organizations that provide advanced training for cosmetics, but mostly this question depends on the emphasis the doctor and office place on cosmetics. Dr. Stauffer and our team have an artistic eye for cosmetic treatments, and Dr. Stauffer feels that really any treatment his office provides is cosmetic in nature. That is, all treatment at our office has the end goal of looking as natural and beautiful as possible. Dr. Stauffer has taken many smile design and cosmetic course, and we believe he can meet and exceed your expectations for a smile makeover. Just come in and find out what we can do for your smile!

Q?

What is “comprehensive dentistry”?

A.

Our aim is to have all concerns and issues known – to us and to you – and hopefully resolved before an emergency. We want everyone to have healthy, attractive, and stable teeth and smiles. (Nobody likes a toothache or broken tooth, especially since they never happen at convenient times.) This means that we see patients for many reasons with many different needs. Our services range from routine preventive care to life changing restorative and cosmetic treatment, so we have something to offer everyone to address their personal chief concern and needs.

The second half of this equation is the development and fulfillment of ongoing maintenance plans. This minimizes the chance of original problems reoccurring. We will do everything we can to customize your maintenance plan based on your individual situation.

Q?

What if I still have trouble getting over my dental anxiety?

A.

Dental anxieties and even fear are not unusual. People of any age can experience such feelings, and even with our best relaxation techniques some patients still have trouble overcoming these feelings. We don’t want this to keep you from seeing a dentist until it is too late, as it is always easier to address problems in their early stages. We will adjust your treatment to meet your needs, which may include oral conscious sedation. Oral conscious sedation involves a little medication at the beginning of dental appointments to place the patient in a state of deep relaxation. This may be just what you need for more anxiety-free dental visits than you’ve ever experienced!
